This Week In House Plants (22/07/23)

I’m on holiday this week, and we’re mainly staycationing, which means I’ll probs have a houseplant haul next week.

We’re not really doing anything specifically planty but I somehow always seem to end up in a garden centre.

This week’s house tour is a few months old but it just cropped up on my home page and I enjoyed it, so I’m sharing it here. It’s from Summer Rayne Oakes and is nearly an hour long, so I stored it in my watch later until I had time to relax and enjoy it. There are few pleasures greater than chilling in front of a house plant tour in a clean house with a glass of wine and a sharing bag of crisps (not to share, it’s just regular packets aren’t big enough).

I also love this video on rehabbing plants.

And a house tour from Planterina is ALWAYS welcome.

A new Philodendron hybrid has been unveiled: Philodendron Trouble Tonight. You can see it here. How does one go about getting a job naming Philodendron? I feel like I’d be really good at it. For example, there aren’t ANY named after Pokemon, which seems like a massive oversight.

£35 for a Monstera Obliqua. Remember #itsneverobliqua?? A different time!

Remember when these were the rarest plant in the world?

If you are IN LOVE with a plant but it’s out of your budget, it WILL come down in price. Don’t overstretch and DON’T buy seeds unless you’re SURE that you’re getting what you want.

Have an awesome weekend. I’ll be walking round Kielder Reservoir, possibly being eaten alive by mozzies.
