Try just snipping them, removing a couple of leaves to reveal the nodes and sticking back in with the mother plant. I’m sorry, I have no other secrets! 

Strings of things seem to be incredibly temperamental so maybe it’s them, not you. Since writing this article I’ve discovered that something that’s easy to propagate for some people is impossible for others. I’ve even had varying success within the same species, using different mother plants. 

When it comes to propagating, I’ve found that increasing the light, humidity, and temperature is really helpful - stick the plant in a clear box on a sunny windowsill to really boost your chances. Also, try your philodendron in moss - aroids are typically slow to prop for me so I always use moss.

Some people swear by rooting hormones and apparently cinnamon does a similar job. Maybe worth a try?]]></description>
