They do dry out, but since there’s a reservoir at the bottom it stays moist enough for the roots. I think because Leca is lightweight and free moving it doesn’t damage roots as much a soil can. That being said, be careful!

I do keep the reservoir above the cut, but I know other people have had success keeping the cutting above the water level.

When propagating in water or growing in leca, don’t the balls on top dry out?

If I change the water weekly while propagating won’t I disturb or break fragile roots forming? Also, until roots form I’m guessing it is necessary to keep water level a bit over the lowest point of stem?
