Hi!

This is for Crystal. I, too, have had a Schefflera plant for probably a decade, and it DID grow very tall. At first, I had it outside during the summertime but, when I brought it inside once it got cold out, it dropped SO MANY leaves. In my case, the problem was lack of light. I know Caroline says these plants tolerate low light, but I've NEVER had luck with ANY TYPE OF PLANT in low light. I moved the Scheff from room to room, only to have it drop an alarming number of leaves. Feeling desperate, I moved it downstairs to the little entryway of my apartment building, because the door I placed it near is all glass and all LIGHT. The plant loves it. (My landlord doesn't.) In fact, it grew so tall, I HAD to propagate it. Now, instead of being tall and vertical, it is fat and wide. It looks SO lush. Unfortunately, despite following very specific directions for planting the cuttings, they didn't make it. But that's okay. "Momma did!"

Thank you for your comments in the care of this plant/tree. I have had mine for over 10 years and yes it grow into a tree standing 18” almost passing the height of my front door. Now, it’s bend over like an umbrella; I am afraid to prune but your advice on the replant and where to cut and add moss to get the roots to regrow before placing back into pot might work. Pray for beautiful blessing her name. Thanks
